Built Green® Certification
Built Green is a voluntary program to set building standards designed to create environmentally friendly residential buildings. The results are efficient, cost-effective, and lasting homes that are built according to best practices from the planning stages to construction. It is a non-profit program of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties. It is a local organization designed for builders and developers, by builders and developers. Since its launch in 1999, Built Green membership has grown to hundreds of builders, designers, developers, suppliers, and realtors committed to community health and sustainability in the Puget Sound area.
The Joto-Vent sits on top of the concrete foundation and under the sill plate, thus the sill plate is NOT in direct contact with the concrete thus per IBC code, the sill plate does NOT have to be treated lumber. Hardware, therefore, does not have to be treated/galvanized as well. This is a great cost-saving and allows you the builders to apply for more Built Green points.
The Joto-Vent System also gets BUILT GREEN checklist points for moisture control and airflow efficiency. When used in conjunction with other environmental and healthy house-building practices assures the builder of BUILT GREEN points on every project.
The Joto-Vent has a recycled plastics content and when used properly you can collect Built Green points for construction projects. Since the vent is installed between the concrete foundation and the wooden sill plate, the plate is not in direct contact with the concrete, so it does not have to be treated lumber. Therefore, when you use the Joto-Vent System you can eliminate all treated sill plates and treated hardware from the job site, giving you more Build Green points for your project.
